The most important questions

Can I install a wood stove or wood fireplace in a Minergie or low-energy house?

Yes, this is possible if the wood stove or wood fireplace is installed as a room air independent unit. In this case, the combustion air is not drawn from the room but is supplied from outside in a controlled manner. To achieve this, the required fresh air is channelled from outside to the wood stove via a pipe or duct.

For almost all Attika wood stoves and wood fireplace inserts, this connection can be made via the AIR system. Depending on the model and installation situation, the air supply can be routed through the floor or the rear wall.

Please always observe the country-specific regulations and have the plans checked by a qualified professional.

Where can I find my nearest Attika dealer?

How can I tell if a wood stove is of good quality?

You can recognise a high-quality wood stove by, amongst other things, the finish of the firebox door, how it operates, the hinges and the seals. It’s best to check these points directly at a dealer.

Our tip: open and close the firebox door several times at the point of sale:

  • Does it open easily and close completely? Does it lock automatically?
  • Does the hinge run smoothly?
  • Does the closing sound pleasant?
  • Does the handle fit comfortably in your hand?
  • Does the door feel solid, compact, airtight and heavy?
  • Are the seals on the inside of the door neatly fitted?

A special function is the Self-Locking System© (SLS©), developed by Attika designers in Switzerland. This allows the firebox door to be opened easily with a gentle pull and in an ergonomic motion.

It’s best to have the Self-Locking System© demonstrated to you by a local Attika dealer.
